Shiprocket shipping rates need a shipment-specific quote. Enter the pickup and delivery pincodes, the packed weight and dimensions, shipment value and payment mode. Compare the same courier service on the same date before treating two numbers as alternatives.
As checked on 06 Nov 2026, Shiprocket's public pricing page lists a free Lite plan and paid Business, Advanced and Pro plans. Start with a shipment quote, then add collection charges, return freight and the plan allocation to compare full costs.
Shiprocket plan prices checked on 06 Nov 2026
The following figures come from Shiprocket's public pricing page. The shipment column contains the provider's advertised averages; use its calculator for your parcel quote.
| Public plan | Listed monthly plan price | Advertised average shipment cost |
|---|---|---|
| Lite | Free | ₹45 |
| Business | ₹199 | ₹41 |
| Advanced | ₹499 | ₹39 |
| Pro | ₹799 | ₹36 |
The page also advertises plan-fee refunds at 100 monthly shipments for Business, 500 for Advanced and 1,000 for Pro. Check eligibility and how a refund is applied before including it in a forecast.
A plan fee and shipment freight are different expenses. Allocate the plan fee to the shipments you actually send in that billing period. If volume falls, that allocation rises even when your quoted freight remains unchanged. Use expected eligible shipments rather than an ambitious sales target when comparing subscriptions.
How to get a usable shipping quote
Shiprocket's rate calculator describes distance, package weight, plan and shipping mode as rate factors. Its rate-calculation help page also asks for shipment type, dimensions, payment type and value. The help page was last modified in December 2022 and remained available when checked for this guide.
Before comparing couriers, prepare a reproducible quote sheet:
- Record the warehouse pincode and a real destination pincode from your shipping mix.
- Select whether this is an outward shipment or a customer return pickup.
- Enter the packed parcel weight. Include the outer box, filler and any inserts.
- Enter external dimensions in the required units.
- Use the correct shipment value and choose COD or prepaid as appropriate.
- Save the courier name, exact service, estimated delivery date and charge breakdown with the quote date.
Do not change the packaging inputs between courier comparisons to produce a cheaper result. If a quote looks unusual, repeat it with the saved inputs. A comparison that another operator cannot reproduce is weak evidence for a contract decision.
For a business with several pickup locations, keep separate quote sheets. A different origin can change the route classification even when the customer pincode stays the same.
Packed weight can be lower than chargeable weight
A light product in a large box can attract volumetric weight. Shiprocket's volumetric weight calculator explains that the higher of actual and dimensional weight is used. Its displayed formula uses length multiplied by width multiplied by height in centimetres, divided by 5,000. The divisor is courier-specific, so confirm it for your service.
Worked example with assumed parcel dimensions: use packed actual weight of 0.8 kg and dimensions of 30 × 20 × 15 cm. Using a 5,000 divisor, volumetric weight is 1.8 kg. That exceeds actual weight, before any rounding into the service's billing slabs.
Now assume the same product can safely fit in 25 × 20 × 10 cm. Volumetric weight becomes 1 kg. Apply the courier's billing slabs to both weights to calculate the freight difference.
Before adopting smaller packaging, check protection and returns condition. A box that produces damage is not cheaper once you count replacement freight and write-offs. Store the packed dimensions with the product's packaging instructions so dispatch does not have to estimate them repeatedly.
Delhivery's volumetric-weight guide, updated 17 Jun 2025 and checked 06 Nov 2026, also uses a 5,000 divisor for Surface and Express boxes. It describes separate handling for flyer shipments. Match packaging type and service when comparing the same parcel across providers.
Shipping zones need the actual pincodes
Shiprocket's shipping-zone help page explains that courier zones affect freight and delivery time. Its category descriptions are broad and were last updated in December 2022. Use the current quote for the real pincode pair to settle a billing question.
For your comparison, group representative destinations by the routes you actually ship. Keep the group definition written down. If a courier classifies a destination differently, record the mismatch and ask for clarification before scaling dispatches through that service.
Do not calculate a national freight average by giving each route equal weight unless your order mix is genuinely equal. Weight the quotes by the expected shipment count on each route. That produces a planning estimate for your business rather than a generic headline number.
Compare a direct courier quote with an aggregator
Delhivery's Rate Calculator guide, updated 02 Nov 2023 and checked 06 Nov 2026, asks for origin and destination pincodes, package weight and dimensions, payment mode and COD amount. It shows Surface and Express estimates and separate RTO and reverse-pickup costs.
Run that comparison with the inputs saved for the Shiprocket quote. Match the service promise, collection charge and return leg, then add each account's subscription or service fees. Keep the quote date on both records so a later rate change is visible.
Compare COD and prepaid separately
The cash-collection line can change the result even when forward freight is the same. Check the COD breakdown in the quote and confirm its collection rule. Our COD charges guide explains why a minimum charge and a percentage can produce different costs at different order values.
Keep the amount charged to the customer separate from the courier expense. A checkout shipping fee is revenue collected under your offer; it is not a direct copy of the freight invoice. Using the same label for both makes it easy to overlook a subsidy or overstate delivery profitability.
If you test a prepaid incentive, include the discount and online payment costs in that cohort. A shift in payment share is useful only when the total contribution and delivery outcomes support the change. Compare final outcomes after the delivery window, rather than the mix of orders placed on the first day.
Count RTO freight and the plan fee in a comparison
Worked example with assumed courier inputs, excluding tax and COD collection fees:
| Assumed input or result | Service A | Service B |
|---|---|---|
| Dispatches | 100 | 100 |
| Forward freight per dispatch | ₹60 | ₹70 |
| Parcels ending in RTO | 15 | 8 |
| RTO freight per returned parcel | ₹60 | ₹70 |
| Total forward and RTO freight | ₹6,900 | ₹7,560 |
| Delivered parcels | 85 | 92 |
| Freight per delivered parcel | ₹81.18 | ₹82.17 |
Service A has cheaper freight per delivered parcel in this example. Service B delivers more parcels and costs more in freight. Value those additional deliveries at their retained contribution to decide whether the higher freight bill pays back.
Add subscription allocation afterwards. Using the listed ₹499 Advanced plan for 100 dispatches adds ₹4.99 per dispatch before any refund or tax treatment. Match the plan expense to the same period as the dispatches. Spread it over delivered orders as well if you want a fully loaded delivery-cost measure.
Audit the final invoice against the quote
A quote is an estimate built on declared inputs. Compare the final shipment charges with the saved quote after delivery or RTO. Use the airway bill to join the records so a return charge on a later invoice still lands against the right parcel.
Keep a discrepancy queue with these fields:
- Declared packed weight and dimensions, alongside the billed weight.
- The selected courier service and route classification.
- Expected forward freight, actual freight and any explained adjustment.
- COD deductions and the related collection record where applicable.
- Return freight and whether the parcel physically arrived back.
- The invoice reference, query owner and final adjustment.
Preserve packing evidence at dispatch. A later photograph of an unpacked product does not show the dimensions of the parcel that travelled. If a disputed charge is reversed, keep the credit reference with the original invoice instead of deleting the discrepancy history.
Choose the next test from your own records
Take a representative set of closed shipments and identify the largest unexplained cost. If chargeable weight differs repeatedly, check packing instructions. If late attempts dominate, investigate that route and service. If there are many unresolved buyer contacts, work the NDR desk routine before assuming a rate negotiation will fix delivery losses.
Save the current quotes and write the proposed change beside them. Keep a comparable group on the existing process where practical, then wait for delivery outcomes and invoices to settle. Use the RTO reduction guide to measure delivery changes against the same dispatch denominator. The resulting comparison should show the cost per delivered order and the money retained, with unresolved shipments stated explicitly.
Questions from the desk
How do I check Shiprocket courier charges?
Use the rate calculator with your pickup and destination pincodes, packed weight, dimensions, shipment value and payment mode. Save the quote for the specific courier service and date.
Are Shiprocket delivery charges fixed across India?
No. Route and shipment details affect the quote. Public advertised average shipment costs are not a universal price for each parcel.
What changes the Shiprocket shipping cost?
Compare the selected service and route alongside chargeable weight and payment mode. Check the quote for COD and other charges then allocate any plan fee separately.
Where can I find Shiprocket return charges?
Check the chosen courier's RTO terms during booking. An undelivered RTO and a reverse pickup after a customer return are different journeys and need separate quotes.
